Take a peek into our recent annual Tech Impact Night – a special event organized by Tech To The Rescue Foundation to celebrate the achievements of our global movement: tech companies, nonprofits, donors, and partners who share our mission to make pro-bono for impact a new standard in the tech world.

This year’s gathering marked the fourth edition of the event in Warsaw, Poland. It was a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come: from our beginnings as a grassroots initiative in Wroclaw, Poland, to becoming a global movement. In 2024 alone, we have made an impact in 128 countries.

Technology + Nonprofits: A Partnership for Change

At Tech To The Rescue, we believe nonprofits hold unparalleled knowledge and deep trust within their communities. They know the challenges on the ground and are uniquely equipped to deliver solutions. On the other hand, more and more tech companies – especially custom software development firms – are stepping up, eager to use their expertise to drive social impact through pro-bono projects.

During Tech Impact Night, we heard firsthand stories that brought this vision to life.

One of these stories came from Ewa Szymera, the founder of the Pink Box Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting menstrual stigma and trauma in Poland. The foundation is committed to advancing high-quality sexual health education for young people – a topic often overlooked but so critical for healthy, confident futures. Through Tech To The Rescue, they were matched with SoftServe, and together they are building a digital platform to provide inclusive, accessible education. A simple solution with the potential to transform lives.

Another powerful story came from Michal Mazur, from the Center for Citizenship Education, which focuses on empowering citizens to engage meaningfully in their civic roles, such as voting. In an era where misinformation is rampant, their work in promoting civic education is more important than ever. Thanks to a collaboration facilitated by Tech To The Rescue, the OCE Foundation has partnered with SW Research to develop a digital tool that will equip citizens with the knowledge and resources to participate fully in democracy.

A Global Impact Experience

One of the highlights of this year’s event was our immersive experience room. Here, guests could step into the stories of inspiring nonprofits from the Tech To The Rescue community. It was a powerful way to showcase the scale and diversity of their missions, from reforestation and land restoration to education, malnutrition, and renewable energy.

We were honored to highlight organizations like Just Diggit, CRIES, ADHA, Replant World, Mercy Corps, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, Solar Sister, and the White Helmets. Each story served as a reminder of what’s possible when nonprofits and tech companies come together to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges.

Our special end-of-year impact video is also an inspiring call to action for technologists and impact organizations to collaborate to solve those challenges.

Tech for Good Badges for Socially Engaged Tech Companies

At Tech To The Rescue, we aim to see pro-bono partnerships become the industry standard in the tech world. Achieving this requires collaboration at scale, and recognizing the trailblazers that co-create the movement with us. That’s why we’re grateful for the support of strategic partners and sponsors like AWS, Google.org, Lenovo, and Twilio – leaders helping us build the tech for good movement by matching expertise with purpose.

We are equally proud to award more than 50 tech companies from more than 30 countries this year with the Tech for Good Badge 2024. These companies are not only advocates of the movement, but have also built and delivered impact tech projects in collaboration with ambitious nonprofits from our community this year. We had the honour to award some of the badges in-person, while most of the awarded tech companies will receive their digital badge as a recognition and proof of their engagement and impact.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we closed the evening, surrounded by friends, partners, and changemakers, we were reminded of the power of community. Tech Impact Night was not just a celebration but a commitment – a collective promise to do more, dream bigger, and act faster.

Special thanks to the Polish Business Roundtable for hosting us at their beautiful venue and supporting this event. As we jump into 2025, let’s carry forward the inspiration, the connections, and the momentum we’ve built. Together, we are creating a future where pro-bono becomes the norm, not the exception.

Wishing you all a kind, impactful, and transformative year ahead.

With gratitude,
