Why They’re Involved in AI4C
Elizabeth Njoroge
What does being involved in a social impact project mean to you personally?
“Being involved in social impact projects allows me to give back, using my skills to create opportunities for others, especially those who are underserved. For me, it’s about empowering the next generation, particularly girls and young women, to gain access to technology that can change their lives. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that the work I’m doing is helping build a more inclusive future.”
What excites you most about the workshop you’ll be leading?
“I’m really excited about addressing cultural and language barriers, biases, and ethical concerns in AI as they relate to NGOs. It’s important to understand how these factors can impact the solutions we develop. By helping NGOs navigate these issues, we ensure that AI is inclusive and truly serves the diverse communities we aim to help.”
Where do you see the biggest potential for AI in social good?
“The biggest potential lies in how AI can create scalable solutions that provide actionable insights, especially in sectors like healthcare, education, and disaster response. It allows nonprofits to optimize resources and decision-making in ways that were previously impossible. This scalability is what excites me the most.”
Tom Vazdar
What does being part of AI4C mean to you?
“It means aligning my expertise with a purpose greater than just business. I’ve always believed that technology can be used to bridge gaps in resources, and AI is one of the most powerful tools we have to do that. Working with AI4C lets me apply AI in ways that directly impact communities that need it most, and that’s something I find incredibly rewarding.”
What excites you about the workshop you’ll be leading?
“I’m looking forward to demystifying AI for nonprofits. Many organizations don’t realize how accessible AI can be and how practical it is for them. In my workshop, I’ll be helping teams prioritize AI projects, navigate tradeoffs, and implement ethical solutions that support their missions. Seeing that lightbulb moment, when they realize how AI can help their work—that’s what excites me.”
Where do you see AI having the most impact in social good?
“AI can be transformative in areas like healthcare, where it can reach underserved populations, or in disaster management, where it can help save lives by improving response times. The ability to deliver precise interventions to large-scale problems is where AI’s true potential lies in the social good space.”
